Our first Wild Comforts course brings families together in the outdoors to strengthen their bonds and their camping skills by learning the basics of wilderness survival. This sequel to Wild Comforts introduces the basics of land navigation and gives families the opportunity to put their skills to the test on an overnight backpacking trip!
This family adventure begins Friday with survival training and backpacking basics at Mountain Shepherd. Saturday includes a lesson in land navigation with a map and compass and a challenging off-trail backpacking hike that will test your navigational knowledge! While exploring, families will be challenged to prove their preparedness by sheltering in place and cooking the food they’re carrying over a campfire they build. You will survive the scenario if you cover all the priorities and work together! The fun wraps up on Sunday with a short hike back to Mountain Shepherd after the exciting overnight excursion.
